			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As well as keeping a stress relief journal if you&#8217;re wanting to pinpoint particular areas of tension in your life, keeping a &#8216;what&#8217;s happening/where am I at&#8217; kind of journal can also be a great tool in your arsenal of stress management solutions.  I am not sure if it is because of the repititive tap-tap of typing is somehow calming or it is the need to get whatever it is that is bugging you out of your own head so that you can get some perspective on it or it is that feeling of being heard but keeping your own journal can be also those things.  It can be a way to self-acknowledge all the good things that have happened to you, a place to be grateful without sounding like Pollyanna, and a safe place to splurge any excess emotions that are threatening to leap out of you onto the next unsuspecting person you come into contact with.</p>
<p>The thing with a journal is that it doesn&#8217;t have to be something you do each day and there is no word limit you need to reach before you can put it aside.  If you feel it might be helpful then do it daily otherwise use it as and when you need to.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week I was kidding myself that a problem at my son&#8217;s school wasn&#8217;t worrying me.  Sure it was a concern but I was not really stressed about it.  We have regular crises at school and this was just another to add to the pile.</p>
<p>Well, so I thought.  I realised that the situation was eating at me when I launched into yet another argument, entirely in my head I might add, with the Principal after I&#8217;d finished the heated discussion with my son&#8217;s teacher.  I&#8217;d counter their arguments and they had come back at me and I&#8217;d have to think of other angles to take and on and on it went, all as I state in my own mind.</p>
<p>There was little that was based on reality apart from the initial discussion, the rest was wild speculation on my part and I guess highly entertaining in a way.</p>
<p>And of course, what I imagined might never happen.  Or I may say what I have rehearsed but they&#8217;ll probably react in a way I haven&#8217;t foreseen so all that &#8216;preparation&#8217; I did was to get me really worked about the situation before I really knew what the situation was.  What a waste of time and energy.  Not to mention fingernails and hair (from the nail biting and hair pulling!).  Are you fighting with anyone in your head?</p>

<p>But you can take back control.  Do this by tackling one area at a time rather than feeling you&#8217;ve to solve everything all at once.  Start by isolating only one particular stressor in your life and then work on it until you regain control.  The important thing here is to work at it and believe that it is solvable because faith can be a powerful enabler.</p>
